English Phrasal Verbs In Use, Advanced, McCarthy M., O'Dell F., 2007.

   It was written to help you take your knowledge of phrasal verbs to a more advanced level.
It is intended for students who already have at least an upper intermediate level of English. Many of you will have already worked with English Phrasal Verbs in Use Intermediate and this book builds on the work done there. However, it does not matter if you have gained your knowledge of phrasal verbs in a different way. We do not assume that you have used English Phrasal Verbs in Use Intermediate, although we do present and practise either different phrasal verbs in this book or, occasionally, more advanced uses of verbs that were presented in the lower level book.

Test Your English Vocabulary in Use, Elementary, McCarthy M., O'Dell F., 2010.

   Test Your English Vocabulary in Use (Elementary) aims to help students check their vocabulary learning. It can be used by all elementary learners of English who want to test their vocabulary. It will also be useful for learners who are using English Vocabulary in Use (Elementary) and want to test their progress. Learners can use this test book alone, but the tests can also be used by a teacher working with groups of students.

The digital age is one of instant gratifi cation. The situation may be familiar to you: you’re having co ee or dinner with some friends when somebody asks a general knowledge question. Nobody knows the answer but at least one person gets their smartphone out ready to fi nd it. Where do we go for that info? Chances are it will be a random Google search or a check on Wikipedia. Triumphantly, they provide you with the answer. It’s information which you don’t argue with and then instantly forget – it’s ephemeral.
